Do you love caramel apples? Do you love breakfast? Do you love eating things that taste like caramel apples for breakfast?
While browsing my fridge this morning trying to decide what I could throw together for a quick post-morning workout meal I came across dates and apples. Now, I’ve had dates and apples together before, but this quick little recipe takes it to the next level.
Apples and dates are full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber to help fuel your cells and satisfy your hunger at the same time. The addition of a few sunflower and pumpkin seeds will bump the satiation level of this nutrient packed meal up a notch to help you feel full and energized longer.
So, if you’ve got a sweet tooth in the morning but don’t want to bog down your body with refined sugar, flour, and animal fat; give this whole food, plant-based breakfast bowl a try:
Ingredients you will need:
2 Crisp Sweet Apples (chopped)
5 Medjool Dates (chopped into small pieces)
¼ Cup Sunflower Seeds (preferably soaked)
¼ Cup Pumpkin Seeds (preferably soaked)
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon (or to taste)
Directions:
Throw all of the above ingredients into a bowl and toss until everything is mixed well and the seeds and cinnamon are evenly distributed.
That’s it! Now enjoy this guilt-free, sweet treat and start your day out knowing you just gave your body an internal high-five!
To your best health and always remember to follow your raw intuition,
Matt
